To make holiday gatherings simpler for residents and visitors, the Town of Newmarket is easing its on-street parking restrictions during the holiday season. From Saturday, December 20, 2025 until Friday, January 2, 2026 Municipal Enforcement Officers will not issue tickets for vehicles parked on the street for over three consecutive hours or between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Residents and visitors are asked to move their vehicles off the street during snow events so that snow plows can clear the streets to ensure everyone’s safety.
Other parking regulations will continue to be enforced such as:
- Parking within two feet (0.6 metres) of a driveway or laneway
- Parking within 10 feet (3 metres) of a fire hydrant
- Facing the wrong direction (on any street, including crescents and courts)
- Parking on any Boulevard in a manner that causes obstruction to a Sidewalk or pedestrian walkway
- Parking in a space designated for disabled persons without displaying a valid accessible person's permit
- Parking on private property without the consent of the owner or occupant of the property
- Parking in prohibited or “No Parking” areas as signed
Residents are also reminded to keep the area around fire hydrants clear and avoid shoveling snow onto the street. Regular winter and parking restrictions will resume on Saturday, January 3, 2026, and remain in effect until Tuesday, April 15, 2026.
