Naming and numbering Newmarket's streets is very important. Addresses help with finding destinations, and having clear and easily-understood addresses can help first responders find properties more quickly in an emergency. Every building, park and facility requires a unique address to make it easy to identify and locate.
Changing an address
The Town of Newmarket permits address changes in some circumstances. Owners of a property may initiate a request to change the number assigned to their property if another suitable number is available. Numbers must remain sequential with adjacent properties, not duplicate another property number, and fit the numbering pattern of the street.
Requests for an address change must also provide a proof of ownership of the property, and proof of payment of a fee to both the Town of Newmarket and to Newmarket Tay Hydro.
